From the founding of the college to a lifetime-achievement honour — the craft in motion.
South Africa's college of auctioneering for nearly 40 years — the chant, the ring, the ethics and the law. The craft of the auctioneer, taught by working auctioneers.
The South African College of Auctioneering awards a prestigious diploma to graduates on successful completion of the course.
From your first chant to running the ring with authority — and within the law. Small classes, personal attention, and a public student auction before you graduate.

Founded in 1986 by Col. Hedley Harris. SAIA-accredited and long affiliated with the NAA, with a SAIA Hall of Fame for education.
You don't watch — you do. Real chant practice, real ring time, and real crowds from day one.
Learn from working auctioneers and join a network of graduates across livestock, property, vehicles and estates.
A prestigious diploma awarded on successful completion — the professional standard the industry and employers respect.
In the wake of the 1985 recession, Col. Hedley Harris travelled over 12,000 miles to the United States to study the craft at the Worldwide College of Auctioneering. He returned with a vision — and in 1986 opened the doors of the South African College of Auctioneering, laying the foundation for a structured, professional approach to the trade.
Founder of Hedley Harris Auctioneers and bearer of the respected title "Colonel", he has trained over 50,000 students and was inducted into the SAIA Hall of Fame for Education in 2011. Today the Harris family carries that craft forward — training the next generation of South African auctioneers.

From the founding of the college to a lifetime-achievement honour — the craft in motion.
Visiting South Africa as a guest speaker, Mike Jones — founder of the Mike Jones Auction Academy and later Chairman of the USA's National Auctioneers Association — remarked that the College's training was on par with the standard of auctioneering instruction in the United States.

Real graduates, real auctions — here's what students have gone on to do after training with us.
I was retrenched after 9½ years with an auction company, so I decided to go into the auction business myself. We started with small auctions — and in November we sold a farm for R3.8 million and the assets for R630,000, then in January we auctioned a guest house in Vryheid for R880,000. We are so blessed. Thank you for everything you taught me.
I always told myself the bidding calls were easy — until I found the real truth through uncle Hedley. Thank you for all your teachings and encouragement; I'll never forget it.
Just a word of thanks for the course — I thoroughly enjoyed it, meeting new people and exchanging ideas. Your course content is excellent, covering every aspect of the auctioneering business.
Very many thanks for an excellent course — not only professionally put together, with very clear documentation and slides, but of enormous interest. Your drive and motivation, even when I got the basic numbers wrong, were very encouraging. I feel totally motivated by this new venture.
Baie dankie dat ek u kursus kon bywoon. Die week was werklik aangenaam en ek het geweldig baie geleer. Baie dankie vir die wyse waarop u die kursus aanbied — u passie vir die beroep is aansteeklik.
Thank you so much for a wonderful course. I'll keep practising till I can make you proud! Much love and best wishes.
